sac_whovian: (Timelords - 3rd doc and master)
I've been rewatching Robin of Sherwood now that I have the DVDs. ($35 from Costco, whee!) Still my favorite Robin ever.

Most of the times these days, I accept that storytelling is tighter. Regrettably, there are more commercials and therefore shorter shows, and the style of editing and ability to make points visually has significantly advanced since I was a kid. I confess that sometimes I watch old shows and find them really slow.

But it seems like every Robin episode, there are at least five minutes where the merry men are hanging out in the forest, having an archery competition or wrestling, scenes that have absolutely no relevance to the plot, but are such great interactions between the characters. It makes me gnash my teeth. Curse you MTV and your fast editing influence! Curse you greedy television executives! I'm *sick* of hour-long shows that are only 43 minutes. I want that time back in the episode, not hawking cars.

*sigh*
